Scottish newbie

Hi there, been into VW's for years but have never owned a MKI, although my dad owned a 1600 MKI GTI from new and l got to borrow it when l wanted. Guess you can tell from this l'm no spring chicken    Anyway have bought a 1983 Golf MKI 1.1c, which has been slightly modded-dont worry he wasn't a max power fan so no ghastly body kits  :roll: -painted in nimbus grey lowered-he just cut the springs- tailgate flushed.
Good news is that we stripped it down and there's no one bit of rust, had sill properly repared by old skool panelbeater, new fuel tank with new pipes to engine, new wings,new front panel, and when we took the carpet out absolute solid. Going to be looking for some parts, got some in stock and need to acquire some, looking for engine as previous owner fitted an old Scirroco engine-dead now.  Will post some pics soon

as there seems to be a few scots….keen to arrange a wee meet? we could meet up and talk pish, drink tennents and gawk at each other VWs…

would love to but i would not be in the mk1 since its not roadworthy yet……i'd be showing up my me other car.  if im allowed :

More than keen to have this sort of meet. I have tried many times before but arranging a mutual location and time has been difficult.
