I have the same concern of the rear lapbelts, I'm sure it can be done, allot of older classic cars don't have seatbelts, but there are companys that can install seatbelts for you in these cars. So why not a Golf cab :dontknow:

I'm currently digging out some info I saw in practical classics which when i find it I will quote.

By the way welcome :D

I Have some info about rear belts, It can be done :D  The article is in Pratical Classics July 2005 (you can order re-prints from the website http://www.practicalclassics.co.uk). Bits bought from Quick Fit Safety Systems 020 82060101.

It says that an anchorage point should not be within 12in of rust!

Another point, I used to own an MG Midget with inertia real seat belts design for use in car without a B pillar, which would be ideal for the rear of a golf. they are adjustable to any angel and you can get them from Holdens www.holden.co.uk

All that needs to be done is to decide on the best place for an achorage point and install a mounting plate and your away. I still have my seat bets so will investigate further at the weekend.

I have two children under 3 and it would be great to change this feature, I'll let you know how i get on.

Haven't seen you about, I'm in Bodmin and drive to St Austell every day, don't use it at the weekend due to fitting the family in it…..and the wife does not like the rear seatbelts……next job on the list :D

On that point the American version had over shoulder seatbelts from 1990 so need to find out where they anchoured them…watch this space will be posting info dreckly

nice one its not been used that much for the last few years , was owned by a guy down the road who garaged it for the last three he had it 15 yrs its in the garage now mot n all that but she had a fuel injection system overhaul last yr and goes like the proverbial, do u use octane additive in yours , it came recommended by richard bros in redruth what do you think.
bad points are as usual  the roof needs restringing and replacing
oh and a full respray
i sorted all the rust spots and brakes tyres etc so cant wait to get her back really ,   be a while yet mind$$$

Sound simmilar to mine the last guy owned it 4 years did 6000 miles, had all the fuel lines done, new fuel pump rear breaks/bearings/drums… so I'm now using it every day and alls lovely, could do with a better roof, a lick of paint and an injector overhaul but thats nit picking. love driving it especially when the sun comes out :D

Haven't use any octane booster goes fine, I use to have an Alfa 155 a few years ago and when I used Super Plus Unleaded it used to be quiter slighty quicker and more MPG, But it comes at a price… I wouldn't worry unless you want to do Mach 10 everywhere. The lower octane won't damage the engine, just performance.
