Returning member from Suffolk

Hi everyone.

I haven't been on here for about 8 years since I hid my Mk1 gti campaign in a barn under a sheet! But, it's out and at a local garage being made roadworthy. Very pleased that it's sound underneath and, after replacing fuel pump and some fiddling with the injection system, it is running. Some work on the brakes, 4 new tyres, a new headlight and a windscreen might just get it in a state to pass its MOT. Then, some rust spots, a new door and a respray and will be in business!!

Will post a pic or two once worked out how to do it!

Back on the road - this weekend

Realised it's 12 years since it was last on the road.

I am properly excited to pick it up from the garage in such good condition after so long.

OK, it's back on the road!!!

Was actually 12 years since it was hidden away in a barn . Some fuel issues when running up but a new tank and pump sorted that. A few pics:



Exhaust started banging on the fuel tank so decided to make use of the pit in the garage I have never used before. It was a bit tight getting in but it fits just about!!





The challenge was climbing out through the window, over the freezer etc!
