Pictures!!

Hello all, some pictures as promised. Id be quite keen to see what people think its worth please, as I would like to have confirmation that I did well  :redfaced:

As you can see there is a little rust, the wing I will replace to save the hassle. For me the only worru is the skuttle with its but, so any advice please will be greatly appreciated.

Hiya,

In all honesty she looks like she needs a fair bit of bodywork and the windscreen section is one of the hardest to get right I'm told (has to be exact to stop the water getting in).  My mk1 is better than yours in some places and a lot worse in others.  Overall they're probably similar condition.  I paid £400 for mine I think with MOT but no tax.  I would remove the plastic vents on the bonnet but that's just my preference.  All that matters is that you enjoy the car.  Like you I hope to replace panels on mine at some point.

Welcome to the site mate

Nice GTI!
You can always get full or part repair panels for the scuttle/A-pillar area…some here for example : http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=mk1+golf+repair+panel&_sacat=See-All-Categories
I personally would get rid of the bonnet scoop though.

Cheers for the windscreen skuttle link, will definately get that sorted straight away :D
Agreed the bonnet scoop isnt my cup of tea either. I also wondered about the plastic trim on the a-pillars. That doesnt seem to be to common on the others I looked??

Well, then for now the skuttle and wing are my 2 first attack points. I will start a build log in correct section and keep you informed. Need this in nice condition so that I can enjoy it in the summer  :cheer:

Most important thing is you have a MK1, what you do is all down to personal taste and it looks as if you have a cracker there to work with.

Welcome to the site mate, find your local meets and get along to meet up with the rest of us to get the best advice possible from the members and not forgetting our AGM at uttoxeter on the 6-8th of July it one hell of a weekend.

Cheers Dave.

Cheers, Dave.

The A pillar plastic spoilers are pretty cool in my opinion I have some on my silver one.  You will love that motor!!

I agree, the A pillar wind deflectors will be original to the car, so worth keeping if you can. Most non-GTIs and earlier Mk1s don't have them…aswell as a lot of cars 'losing' them over the years for whatever reason.
Look forward to seeing your progress on the car.

good buy that, no matter bout the panel work,

my mk1 resembles a cullinder, biggest hole on inner wing, could fit a small child through it :redfaced: , but regardless, as long as the mk1 lives on, time and hard work will prevale

if thats spelt right :dontknow:

ps, lose the scoop, keep a pillar trims 8)
