The plan is to get it re sprayed white keeping the engine bay red and maybe the inside but i dont know yet… just had a stainless manifold put on, race exhaust and getting it lowered to 40mm. im also considering taking the bumpers off but i dont know if i want it original or not, after all i am changing the colour.
suggestions are welcome

Its a matter of opinion I guess, I'm all for original.. if you are re painting keep it red

The most obvious sign of a cheap respray is when engine bays/interiors and door shuts are a different colour to exterior of the car.
As Dubwanabe said, if you do it white, do it all white. If you really do want to have a red engine bay get that freshly painted in red and the exterior white - no cutting corners!

Im a strong believer in if its your car do what you like to it as its yours, however saying that yours looks like a nice example and if i was respraying i would say you should keep it too original red.
ive not got strong views on standard or modified but think if its a red mk1 maybe it should stay red …
If you really want a white one, you maybe better of selling yours and looking for a white one.
Whatever you decide best of luck with it mate and as people have said if you go for respray try and do it all as will look much better and show its been thought out and done properly
