Not exactly a newbie...
but I thought it was about time I said hello…
Hello,
I'm Gary from Staford in the west Mids
I've been a member for a while now but I've only been lurking in the background and not posted
I've always had Mk1 and 2s, my current daily being a MK2 VR6.
I also have an MK1 GTi which I've owned for about 7/8 years now.
I took it off the road about 3 years ago to do a little bit of work on it, which has now turned into a complete restoration.
I'll post a build thread in the relevant section.
This is how it used to look
Gary.

That looks awesome Gary I bet it's killing you having it off the road. I have one where I rebuilt the engine and now I keep getting set backs… just want it working again
How long before yours is up and running mate. Welcome the the site Gary mate

Welcome to the site, albeit belated
For a minute, I thought someone was trying to pinch my identity with abbreviations
Just looked at your project, looks like she going to need a bit of time spent on her to bring her back to her former glory, I like the engine choice….just done one myself and pleased with the results 8) 8)

Thanks for the welcome guys
I think it's going to be a while before its any where near finished.
I've got a couple of MK2s but they don't even compare to the MK1, I miss it a lot.
I chose the 2.0L 16V as it'as been done so many times and is a (relatively) cheap conversion.
I'm hoping you guys will be able to help me out when I get stuck.
Cheers,
Gary.
