Hi guys

Long time VW owner, first time Mk1 owner here!

Took a drive to Nottingham on Saturday morning to pick up this little gem:

Needs a few little bits doing here and there but apart from that it's pretty sweet! :)

Thank you!

Well I've had VW's since I first passed my test, air and watercooled. Currently in my stable is a 1969 Type 3 Squareback, a 1990 Mk2 Golf Driver and this MK1 Cab, although the Mk2 will have to go now as 3 cars is a bit excessive!
I run Dub Aid Charity VW Show in Towcester, which has been running since 2011 to raise money for various charities.

The Mk1 is in pretty good nick for a 33 year old car, but there are a few little bits I will do to it over time. Needs a new hood as it's dark blue and is playing havoc with my OCD being on a black car! A couple of rust patches that need attention and some little electrical niggles but nothing serious. It's going to be my daily so it will stay pretty much stock!

I haven't taken many photos as yet, but I will be sure to post some up when I do :)

Welcome aboard the MK1 Ship Gemski,

looks a nice tidy example, fantastic fun these cars.
Id recommend getting a windbloker for it though, it kills the cabin noise and air turbulence.
I'm not far from Notts myself.
Square backs bring back happy memories as my G' Pa had one.
Good days out as kids in that.
Roofs aren't to bad to fit, as long as the rear window frame isn't rusted out.
Iv'e fitted loads of these hoods, Did mine last year it was well past it's sell by date.
feel free to have a look at my project about the roof.

Welcome along and enjoy your stay!

Nice collection you have there, and great to hear the Dub Aid charity show, I am sure listing it in the events page on here at the time, will get some Mk1's along.

Make sure you check out the benefits of becoming a paid member, just the discounts alone will save you your membership fee back in bits you might need the cabby, and I look forward to seeing you at a show next year hopefully. You must make the Mk1 Golf AGM 2016, its one not to be missed, any if you have not seen 50+ Mk1's all on a drive out at the same time, this is the place to see it

Aaaaahhhh no multi-quote on here!! Ha

Yeah we actually have 3 Mk1 cabs in our family now so I know about the wind blockers, I will invest in one eventually although I don't imagine I'll have the roof down much over winter!
Thanks for the link, will have a look at that a bit later :)

Don't be jealous, it's costs me a fortune!

I'm not actually in Northampton, that's just where the show is. I'm based in Berkshire! But I will add some info on the show in the relevant section :)

Thanks Rich! I will check out the paid membership, once I've sold the Mk2 and clawed back some money!!

I will be sure to check out some of the meets, in fact my boyfriend lives in Bristol so may well end up at one of your monthly meetings if I'm down on the right day :)
