newly rediscoverd

hi all. was on here a couple months ago.
i have an 1983 mk1 golf gl. gold in colour. based in oxford. have seen loads of smart looking golf in the area. maybee one of them has seen me. anyway the old car is getting a bit worn out and needs some love and car. not really a big fan of showcar mods and would love to restore it to as nearly new condition but no idea where to start or if its really worth it?

anyway, must say this site is good and always found it helpfull in the past.

hello,

how bad is the condition?? just looking worn out or actualy worn out? lots of rust ect….

if its not to bad and you have some mechanical skills then id say get a hanes manual and get to it, only needs some comon sence, or if its in a bad way id think about the amount of money you actualy want to spend!!!!

get some pics up of it

hi carmel,

well its got quite a bit of rust, needs some new/referbished electrics, and full mechanical overhaul but i reckon its all fixable with a bit of care and skill.

given that a new car will be 7K min, somthing under that. maybee 4K or 5K? not really sure and wouldnt mind some pointers

thats quite a good budget, should end up with a nice car!!!
yer well if you do alot yourself it will keep it down too.

bodywork prep is something you can start to reduce cost ect ect.

i dont have much mechanical skill at all, but this is a great site to find out how.
