newbit to the Mk1 Owners club

Hi all..

I'm new to the Mk1 owners club forum, although I dont as yet own a Mk1, i'm currently on the hunt for a nice base car to get me going, fancy a Campaign..

I've previously had 3 VW's, my first car a Polo Coupe S, a 1986 Mk2 8v GTI and my last car which I sold earlier this year after owning it for 7 years :cry: 1989 Mk2 16v golf pictured below:



my current car is a family friendly 2002 Seat Leon Cupra which is fun and great for getting the pram and kids in

I live up in t'hills of Sunny Oldham about 12 miles from Manchester.. thanks for keeping a look out.. i'm not mithered about traveling for the right car..  :wink:

not really feeling Mars Red to be honest, looking for a Lhasa Green, Atlas Grey or white ideally.. thanks anyway.. blame G60RGE for having a stunning example, that car set me off again with the VW bug!… i've still got my 15" BBS RS rims tucked away all shiny awaiting to be rolled out again

No worries mate. No what you mean tho, never really liked white cars until I saw Georges white MK1, stunning! You just missed out on a cracking White MK1 on ebay, chap in here bought it - looks immaculate!

what kind of money did he pay for it?.. i'm on a budget you see so immaculate examples are out of my bracket.. I need one that needs some TLC to bring it back upto scratch.. wheres the fun in it other wise

think you've done the right thing selling the Mk2 to get a Mk1.. good luck in the search, not a fan of black then?  

 

I think it went for about ?2500?

Yeah like black, my Seat Leon is Black.. just really fancy one of the said colours for my Mk1..

sheesh.. way over my budget.. i've got a bag of sand to spend and thats pushing it.. there's one over on Edition 38 forum which is up for 1k ono.. Lhasa Green all the bits and bobs, just needs tidying up, although i'd go for a full respray and possibly the engine bay painted too

my gym partner is a paint sprayer, so i'm gonna get stuck into it with him.. i'm really exited about getting a Mk1.. never even driven one!!.. watched the GTI Magic Video with my 7 week old son, this weekend, initiated into the VW fraternity early.. he was mesmerised [it just made me want to go and buy the first one I saw too, which isn't the best plan]

so the search continues!  :roll:

Sounds like that Lhasa one for ?1k would be worth a look!

the one I have is my first Mk1, and won't be the last    had to weld up most of it and respray it (first time doing both) and had never driven a Mk1 before either but it was completely worth the effort restoring it!

let us know how you get on finding one

gutted.. got my funds sorted now, cash sat in the bank.. enquired about the Lhasa Green one and it had gone.. then enquired about 2 others one White one Black that where in the auto trader on thursday, both gone straight away   :roll:
