Newbie

Hi everyone i'm new to the site just thought i would pop along for some info and help.

I have just helped my sister buy a clipper and i need some advice on where to get parts.

The car is a 1988 karmann clipper with only about 60K genuine miles on the clock. The carb has been changed to a webber unit although not sure which one.

The body is pretty much mint no rust just a couple of car park dings.

The first thing to do is replace the fuel filler pipe as its rusted. Where is best to get one and is there an aftermarket plastic option?

Thanks in advance

Brilliant thanks mate and i found the tech help on how to change it! I think with that done and a good service ( the car has only done 500 miles in the last year) she should be running sweet. Still has the original hood and doesn't leak. very good looking car.

another tech question does changing from the perburg to webber carb actually do anything for the proformance or is it soley reliability?

Also are the 1.8 carb engines overhead cam and do they use hydrolic lifters?

You will have to bear with me if these questions have been asked before i know nothing about golfs.

Hi mate and welcome to the site.  I'd suggest posting you questions in the technical sections as there will be more chance of good answers.  Not everyone checks the newbie section bud so you may be missing out asking here… give it a try bud

Glad to have you as one of our users (new to golfs or not   )  :y:

Welcome to the site, car sounds sweet and an excellant find :)

As for the weber to replace pierberg, if it aint broken dont fix it.
And before changing carb there are other bits to check first.

But as mentioned already technical sections will get you the best advice which I see you have done.
