Hello everyone, just joined the site today as I have a Mk1 in need of some TLC. She just failed her MOT and I need a bit of help and advice.
I don't want to heavily modify, just some subtle tweaks here and there. I need to replace the front suspension springs as they are rusty so I was going to go all out and change the struts and springs all round. Is this adviseable, and would anyone know what's best to go for?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi duggie and welcome to the site. There's loads of options out there but I'd go for a 40mm drop on your shockers mate…. looks better and handles better without being undriveable. You will feel more bumps in the road though.
Any pics mate and what other advise are you after? If you post in the relevent sections, people on here are brilliant and should be able to help.
Welcome aboard

Cheers, I'll add some photos shortly.
I also wanted to change the wheels, they're 14" teardrop ones atm but I'd like to get some BBS ones. Any ideas on the maximum size you can fit, and will I need to use spacers?

Depends on the wheel mate but put a thread up in the "Running gear" section and I'm sure someone would have already done it… loads on here run weird and wonderfull setups
