 I went to see both of these cabbys and come away with none of them  when i got to the first one that was on a garage forcourt, at 9:30 am. The engine was boiling hot 8O so i decided that one was one to give a miss  why would someone get the engine upto temprature if they wasnt hiding something :dontknow: Its not like the guy had to drive it to the garage

The second one that i had a look at, which was on ebay. just went for ?920

neaded a new hood, which i wasnt botherd about!!! i was wanting to replace it with a moi hair hood anyway :D The body was in a great shape and the interior was spot on aswell!!!!! The only concerns i had were the engine  on start up the lfters were noisey and stayed like it while i was there, about 45 minutes, not a big job i know  when i got in the car to drive it, the oil light was flashing 8O  when i pressed the throtle it went off and then when i lifted my foot off it come backon, compresion we thought :dontknow: anyways i took it for a drive and the steering wheel was jumping left to right all the time (steering rack)?? the front wheels were shaking up and down with a clunk noise ( lower arms or ball joints)?? :dontknow: and the rear exhaust box had a big hole in it
Plus the brakes were useless!!! Nothing to do with it being an old mk1 golf, i know the standard setup isnt the best!!! But this one didnt even pull up 8O

Its not much i know, but to much for me!! as i wanted to be able to drive it right away and sort the little isues out as i went along

So at the moment im wondering if i should come back to the mk1 cabby scene again or not    I love the look of them!!! but the basics of them was a bit of a culture shock

I have an old car as it is, but mine is a japanese import and top of the range 16 years old!!! and has power steering the lot

I think i nead to have a sit back and think about it some more

Maybe i should save up a little more and then look for a totaly sorted one and then i might not be so shocked :dontknow:
