Newbie to the site, newbie to Newcastle and newbie to England after living and working overseas

Its a joy to own one of these again … I owned a 1976 1600 GTI nearly 20 years ago, and owned 2 Mk2 GTi's, but always wanted to get another mk1

Am happy to have just bought this wee baby… the previous owner had been slowly renovating it..total respray, bootiful refurbished TSW alloys (nearly as old as the car) and the joy of the new interior just re-upholstered in leather …:-) he needed the money and I was speechless when I managed to get it at a very reasonable price…infact it was a bargain, the joys of ebay!

Mechanically, the car is standard …hence the engine etc are all standard..even the new exhaust with the tiny pipe at the back! the suspension too as you can see! But no complaints…it runs really well, just need to "finish" it now… nothing major.

Have the original tail lights too, so am going to replace them..prefer the originals..

Anyone suggest a good garage in the Newcastle/Northumberland area …when it needs servicing …be grateful..
