Newbie with SBL 527Y - Any info about the car?

Hi all,

I've been visiting the site for a number of years waiting for the opportunity to own a Mk1 of my own.

Now I've finally picked one up I'm looking to get it restored/tidied up over time and enjoy it during the summer months.  See pics below.

I didn't get a great deal of information/history when I picked it up at Christmas, but notice that it's changed hands a few times.  I'm hoping to gain some more information about the car and was hoping that one or a few of you may know something about it, if not previously owned it!!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the journey (no pun intended!) and will hope to meet you all soon at events and shows Cheers

I owned SBL a few years ago. Engine was really strong and I did a track day at Oulton Park in it as well as a road rally. I put the rare petrol stripe seats in it too as the original ones were past it.

Cheers dubboy, it's looking good in that picture. I'm hoping to get it back to look like that again soon.
