Newbie with cold start problem

hi im new here and ive already got a question

ive got a a 1989 mk1 golf 1.8 with twin webber. when i try and start it in the morning it has to turn for about 30 seconds before she starts and thats with the choke on. once started not a problem and no problems starting once warm.

ive been told by a friend that its flooding itself AFTER i kill the engine.
any ideas on how to prevent this????

could be worth checking all the choke is set up properly as if it's not right it will struggle

if it was flooding after you kill the engine then by the morning this wont be the problem as most of the fuel will evaporate overnight so don't think it would be this
