Hi all

Been lurking for a while as I really wanted a MK1 Golf as a project car. Well I got a project car but it wasn't a Golf I picked up a 1978 MK1 Polo N one owner from new 27,500 miles in Miami blue.

It's been stored as the driver was an old man since 1998 and unfortunately some moisture got to it. it's mainly surface rust but I've had to source two front wings and still need to source a rear drivers side sill.

Mk1 Polo

The cars completely standard its never even had a stereo fitted and i aim to keep it that way.

I was just wondering if early MK1 Polo's shared may parts with MK1 Golfs as there are some parts i'd like to replace to get it looking its best. It will need a respray but i want to clean and paint all the underside first.

So can i get parts for brakes and a few interior plastics like window wiper handles. Oh and is it possible to buy the seat cloth as mine ar perfect apart from a patch on the passenger seat

This is the cloth

Any help would be appreciated :)Oh and i'm in Cannock Staffordshire if there are any local meets :)

That's a rare find! Don't think you'll find too many parts shared, at least the ones you'll need

Cheers guys yeah I picked it up last year from over Wolverhampton way.

The mileage, age and colour made me go for it.

Shame that parts weren't shared I've seen a golf with what looked like the same interior.

What are your guys opinions of Gaz coilovers?

Don't get me wrong there may be some same parts, I just don't think many.

Seat trim will have been similar perhaps but not sure about seats themselves.

Check out parts catalogue on vagcat.com. You can check part numbers for yours against Golf to see if any matches for what you're looking for

If the part numbers are still showing on vagcat.com does that mean there available from a VW dealer?
