Newbie trying to locate my old Mk1 GTI (XEV177X)

Hi all,

As the title says, I have very fond memories of my old Mk1 GTI and would like to try and locate it, with a view to purchase… Yes, I know it's a long shot!!!!

I have done a search on DVLA registration check and come up with the following:

The vehicle details for XEV 177X are:

Date of Liability: 01 10 2000
Date of First Registration: 01 08 1981
Year of Manufacture: 1981
Cylinder Capacity (cc): 1588cc
CO2 Emissions: Not Available
Fuel Type: PETROL
Export Marker: N
Vehicle Status: Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour: BLACK
Vehicle Type Approval: Not Available

Given that it is still showing on the DVLA site means that it is should be still in existence (but SORN) I'm guessing.

If anybody knows of its whereabouts, or is able to assist in locating this car then I would be extremely grateful.

Googled my old Golf's registration number for no real reason and this came up.
i hope you found her, she was awesome when I owned her.
i can't honestly remember where I bought her from so maybe I bought her from you?
Owned the lovely thing for maybe a year or two around 15-20 years ago? Chr1st has it been that long?!
lovely car. Wish I could buy it back. Had a subtle spoiler on the back at the top of the boot if I remember rightly.
that and a tilt only sunroof (I think?!).

Don't know what happened there.

Not been taxed for 14 years so its either stashed in a barn or has gone to MK1 heaven!

It's a shame it hasn't been used in 14 years (unless it is stashed safetly).
Hate to see good cars go to waste..
