Newbie thinking of buying a Mk1 GTi

Tips

Hello,

As a newbie I'm just reading through all the info and trying to digest all the info but there is plenty of interesting stuff to keep me going for a while.

I currently own a couple of VW's but my first car, after passing me test, was a green A reg Mk1 Gti with plenty of extras. I've been trying to locate the car for some time with no luck so I'm thinking of buying another one within the next 12 months. After a recent house move I'm unable to find my old photo's of the car which is gutting as it's the one car I always think about. Over the years I've owned more powerful cars but my friends continue to talk about my old car and ask me why the hell I sold it in the first place.

Wish me luck!

Welcome aboard. Do you remember the reg number of your old one? Someone may know it or we can do one of those DVLA check things to see if its still alive!

I have attampted to do this and I thought it was A202 AJR but I've had no joy. The car used to do VW shows and had a Mk2 16v engine fitted along with a big bumper conversion, sinlge wiper and was a few suspension upgrades etc. The car was sold by a friend of mine as I started a job abroad so I never met the buyer either.

I don't think that the registers a live on our new site yet - keep an eye out for when they are as you may see the reg no listed

I checked on the reg number and it appears I was wrong! you would think I would remember my first car reg. I kmow it starts A202 but the rest I am unsure about and I've spent a whole day going through the house and garage trying to find my photo's with no luck.
