Newbie needing some info
Hi there. I am a very proud Mk1 owner, which I have kept as close to original as possible. She is getting on in years (231k kms and climbing) and is starting to show major signs of wear in her electrics, and a bit in the engine too.
I need some help with a couple of things:
1. I need to find out exactly what engine I have. I have searched the entire web and this site to no avail. In the early postings there is a mention of the same code I have ETXXXXXX, and no one seemed to know what it is. I live in South Africa and am wondering if this ET model is something out of the ordinary? Anyone?
2. Is it necessary for me to replace the main loom? Will the attenuation in the electric wires cause any major issues?
3. Is there any way to check whether a starter switch is working. I am wanting to troubleshoot my starting problem and I want to rule out the starter switch.
4. My VIN is also a little confusing - 017D0576875. This doesn't seem to match up to anything I have read. Anyone?
thanks for your help.
Jonathan
