Newbie - Mk1 Golf 1.3 Driver (1983)

Hello Everyone…

I have owned a Mk1 Golf Driver in Mars Red for nearly 10 years.

I have had it garaged since 2000. I have only driven it for a year and then I got a company car and didn't look back at my Mk1….

Mistake, I know….

I now want to spend time and get this car back on the road….as I still think it is with out a doubt the best looking car by far!!!

I need a few spares and advice.

Firstly, I want to drop in a Mk2 Gti engine in it, is this wise?

Also, I need new seats and I want to respray the car…

Please feel free to drop me any comments and advise as I would appreciate all your views…

Original mk1 golf drivers are becoming rare… keep the engine and try to make sure you can put things back later on as they may fetch a fair whack later on  :dontknow:

Up to you with the mk2 engine mate there are a lot of them around so you may get good advice if you post in the big block engine topic.

Yea, if you really want a GTI, buy one. 100 times easier then converting a small block car. As said non GTI/Cabrios are getting rare, restore it up

Nice to see your wanting to get it back on the road.  As to the engine it is your car and what you do is up to you.  Welcome to the site and hope you get all the help your after.
