newbie in rutland

hi im new on the scene just got my first vdub a 88 3 door golf 1275cc ,the car is all standard as far as i can tell , i was told its a mk1 however someone else said its a mk2 so if you know let me know please it be nice to clear that up ive no plans for her yet just enjoy her in the summer go to a few shows etc .
