1985 Cabriolet 1.6 GL
Just bought my first golf from a previous member here (ChrisW) it's a 1985 1.6 GL Cabby and seems pretty darn straight. (All credit and thanks to Chris for the photos!)
I picked it up on Wednesday and am loving it so far.
So far I've flushed out the weak coolant and replaced with new, replaced the leaking rear brake cylinders, replaced a couple of blown fuses and reconnected the disconnected lights (!)
Unfortunately I have also found that the sump gasket needs replacing, a part of the gear linkage appears to be missing(!) And the front offside coil spring is snapped so need a replacement asap.
A shame really as I was booked in for a couple of bits of bodywork and that'll have to wait now. Still nothing really drastic or expensive.
I also have a T25 which is currently in for a full resto.
Anyway, wanted to say hi and hope to meet some of you soon as will be at many of the festivals/shows this year.
Cheers

Welcome along I'm in yarm we should catch up soon for a meeting there seems to be a few more north easteners coming to the forum now
Hi Project1,
That would be cool. I could also use a heads up on local sources for parts etc.
Have a good set of decent value for money mechanics and bodyshops along with a very useful upholsterer. Give me a shout if you want contact info - the lads I know with T25's have all benefitted so far so why not!?
Here's my T25 - keep an eye open for us on the roads!

I'm currently looking for a decent body shop to finish off my project, any contacts worth looking at would be greatly received

welcome along tidy cabby you got, I remember seeing it up for sale
I like the t25 too ive always fancied one!!
Thanks Arf,
The ad wasn't entirely accurate but I won't complain too bitterly as I still reckon I got a good deal.
Thanks for the compliments. I love my Wedge though it's been rough hanging onto it through a redundancy. . We will see what 2014 brings!!
