Just purchased a black G plate 1989 clipper with 90ish on the clock.
Had it about two month now but only been out in her twice as the snow hit us just after I got her home. I owned a GL 1.6 w-reg Cab about 20 years ago when I was a whipper snapper and I loved it. Sold it and since got married and had three kids (well the wife did the child birth bit).
So now it's time for me and the wife to catch a little youth back. So looking forward to this summer.
The golf I've just picked up has had loads of the pricey bits done like spray job and hood. But it seems to be quite original with no silly add on frills which is just how I like the Golfs.
Today I took it for it's first MoT with me as the new owner and was a little worried as an Mot is a good telling point as to weather it's good or bad purchase - Failed on high beam and back wheel bearings, which I was over all pleased with. Both issue I think should be an easy fix. (fingers cross).
My local garage are great and let me put her up on their high ramp to check out underneath
(Oo missies). So pleased with what I found. Or rather what I didn't - not a spec of rust to be seen. FAN TAS TIC.
Already been helped out on the site by one member so dead cuffed.
I will try and post pics if I can work out how to do it.
Regards to all members

Well I've got few bits to sort out for the ticket.
Like rear wheel bearings, high beam not working & side wing indicators are just lenses with no inner connection (strange). Maybe they just couldn't be bother to connect up after the spray job.
But my aim is to enjoy her over the summer months.
Had a few tidy up jobs to do like
- dash heater vents trim
- one outer side door trim strip was missing
- inner door rest was pulled out of socket
- stained seats all cleaned
- passenger seat leaver surround was missing
- put back Karmann badges each side - yet to do
- and a good old fashioned clean - yet to do.
I like to find a better drivers seat base because the rest of the inside is in lovely condition. The small hole lets the interior down. I think basically keep her original as that's what I like about her when I purchased. Oh yer we have a classic car show in the summer in our high street and last year a red cab was on show. So if I can get her up to a good standard maybe put her on show this year.
Thanks for looking
Cheers

The event will be held over the weekend of the 6-8th July 2012 and will be at Uttoxeter Racecourse for the 3rd year running. We have requested the use of one of two bars away from the Caravan Club so that the disco can go on until around 1am instead of midnight.
We have taken into account requests to avoid the Bug Jam weekend and also make it prior to Ramadan both of which start on 20/7/12.
We hope that everyone is happy with the dates and look forward to a great weekend.
The Committee.
