newbie here, but mk1 owner for 12 years!!

hi guys…. and ladies!!
can't understand how i've not come across this site before, maybe because i'm not a huge internet geek, but i've got a day off with nothing to do and had a quick browse and thought i'd look the site up!!
well as for me, 36 year old g60 cabby owner since 1999, live in llanelli, originally from swansea, bought an original mk1 gti cabby in 1999 but through a sequence of events ended up fitting in a g60 back in 2002 and it saw its first show at inters in 2003.  i could go for hours, but i won't bore for you…only other useful info is i run my own wheel refurbishing and polishing business which came off the back of building the cabby and have done some silly jobs in my time!! …try 60 hours polishing a gearbox!!
anyway, here's some pics…but maybe the best one is the last one, which is this winter's project!!

Hi fella,
welcome aboard.
Wow that Cabby looks really sweet.
I love the way in each pic it has a different set of wheels on it LOL, a perk of the job eh? Nice Leather interior as well.

I don't have the skills in Engineering when it comes to engines and conversions etc, but certainly can admire the work that goes into it.

Putting the R32 engine in the Cabby, over winter, roll on summer.
This would be my idea of an engine swap, I was laughing about it the other day, having an R32 engine in just a plain bog standard Cabby. definately a sleeper, that one. Some funny looks to be had when you pull away.
Would be good to start a project thread on here too, so we can follow the progress.

Cheers

Hey Steve.

About time you joined up on here :-)

Finally fitted my le castellets a few days ago after the exhaust decided to pack in on the way home from picking them up from you lol.

You making an appearance at Volksfest Wales this year?

thanks for the welcome guys :)
dave, i saw you a couple of weeks ago for a quote ;) lol
good to see your wheels are now on ceri, look after them for god's sake!!lol
i've decided to give the cab a complete overhaul over the winter, all the running gear is getting a revamp, enginebay minimalised, new bumpers, and a headache over wiring in the r32…the fitting should be no problem as i'm already running an o2a gearbox with cable change and hydraulic clutch :)

Wassup Steve…
Long time no see fella!

Good to see you still got the Cab! I still got the tin top too. Was going to be at Volksfest with it for the first time in a long while this year, but found some welding needing doing just as I felt I was making progress, so that has put pay to my plans!

Check out my build thread (link in Signature) to see see what I have been up to…

AL.
