Newbie - Hello

Just wanted to say a quick hello, i am new here, just bought my first mk1 golf gti, it arrives on thursday - i'm so excited!  

Would like to chat and get to know people who know lots about the mk1 and can pass on some of their knowledge!

hello, welcome to the site, where are you based ? when your mk1 arrives get some pics up, any history ? tales  to tell about your mk1 ? i find that most mk'1s have a tale to tell somewhere in their history.

I'm based in North Yorkshire, Nr Richmond.  

My husband bought the mk1 on ebay, the owner bought it as a project but needs to sell to fund his two wheel hobbie.  It has 115,000, full service history! few small patches of rust on the wings and little around the windscreen. Fuel filter (i think!, i am female so bear with me!) needs replacing.  Rest of the car is pretty much great condition. My father in law is a mechanic and husband runs a steel company so hoping between them they can fix any little probs! but am pleased to become a member of the mk1 golf owners club so knowledge and support will be at hand! Plus its also nice to meet people with the same interests, i am so excited i dont think i'll be able to sleep till thursday!

(just checked where richmond is, proper NORTH yorkshire, still, its nice to go for a drive)

Yes i shall be out with my camera tomorrow! so excited wont sleep tonight!  

Bought my first part for her yesterday, a nice shiny new two light grill, ooooo how exciting, just wish i could pull her upstairs and keep her nice and warm in the bedroom! As soon as Saturday arrives, she's going straight into the garage for some very much needed TLC!
