Newbie from Southampton

Here is my new pride and joy, it's my first mk1 and first gti. It's a bit rough around the edges and needs loads of work but I'm Hoping to do it all myself and learn. Any advice welcome. Cheers Dan

Second white MK1 to be introduced on here in last couple of days.  Picture is hiding the "loads of work need" looks nice and original from the picture.

What are you planning on doing to it?  Love to see some more pictures!

Yea she is mostly original. I'm the 4th owner and it's only got 73 on the clock with every mot from 85! It needs everything doing if I'm honest. So far I've changed the clutch, cambelt, gearbox oil, spark plugs, dizzy, rotor, plugs and that's just the start. I'll upload more pics later today

my end plan is to have a stock looking car with subtle upgrades but I'm planning on driving to the nurburgring in 8 months so want to sort the mechanicals first

Nothing as nice as yours sainsbury, I just got myself a 88 1.8 cabrio - love it already always had t4's and stuff before so it's a nice change

Yeah its awesome mate, i took my Mk5 and my mate took his Escort RS Cosworth… At busy times its hard to concentrate and get a good lap in, there's that much going on round about you, constantly looking in the mirror for faster cars coming so you can move to the right and let them past, we had a wet day and the track was quiet so i actually think that was my quickest lap of the weekend lol… There's a huge group of us going back over in July

Mk5 Golf not Mx5 lol…. Yeah i think i will be… The Formula Renault series happened to be on at the GP track the same weekend we went which is good, all free tickets and open paddock n stuff… Then the world cup final as well, so we picked a good weekend for going, if that stuff wasn't on i think it could get quite boring as there's not much to do near there

Slammed88 I have a t4 aswell. Brilliant old bus and my gti looks alright in the photos but they can be deceiving haha. I'm glad I have a t4 because I'm going to collect loads of parts for the golf now. What t4 do you have?
