Newbie from Edinburgh area

Hi folks,

I'm actually not that new to this forum because I actually registered back in 2006 when I had my 82 GTi but never really posted much. I've now bought another mk1 in the shape of a 83 GLi cabby. The colour is Lagos yellow which I am led to believe was only ever produced in 83 and was also told that it is the only one of this colour left in the UK. I'm sure someone on here can confirm or deny this. I did look at the register which does list other yellow cabby's but only mine is listed as Lagos yellow. The car's an ex concours car from the 90's and was even featured in VWM so is in fairly good nick and still very solid but nowhere near  condition now.
My plans are to generally tidy the car up replacing tired trim parts including the bumpers cos someone has painted them and they look terrible. As for modifications the first will be a set of coilovers because the handling just feels tired and soggy. The bushes also look like they could do with replacing aswell. The brake are obviously the usual mk1 awfulness but 16v servo and master cylinder will be going on and I'm picking up a 256mm conversion tommorow night so that should make a good difference but need bigger wheels first. I'm hoping to go for some wide 14s but I might end up going with 15s just because there easier to come by.

Awrite Jamie, yeah bumpers are have been painted black but alot of the paint has come off. Rear bumper has hole in it and is mishaped at the bottom. I need to get new one's first before i can get rid of the one's on the car anyway.

I was going to look into putting the original reg back on the car.
