Newbie from Denmark !

Joined this forum today to find likewise people interested in the old VW Golf cars. Bought my 1983 Golf 1 GTI last summer. It´s a 3 door white fully original Golf GTI with a 1.8 litre JJ engine and 5 speed. It has run 170.000 km fully serviced. Comes from northern Sweden and besides for the front lower corners of the doors it is completely free of rust ! For now it is standing in a warm garage until the winther is over. The doors will be repaired this spring and then it will have a full repaint in the original color. The paint is 26 (almost 27) years old and has some scratches here and there and has faded. As said the car is fully original and the interiour is in excellent condition.

As for me I am 42 years old. President of the danish VW Golf club ( www.clubgolf.dk ), but we don´t have that many original Golf 1 left in the club. I have driven VW Golf since I was 18 years old, but at that time I only had the money for buying a 1979 Golf 1.1 litre but always dreamed about owing a Golf 1 GTI. Since then I have owned 11 different Golfs (Golf 2 16V Wolfsburg Edition, Golf 2 GTD, Golf 3 VR6, Golf 3 GTI TDI and so on). Besides the Golf 1 GTI, I drive a Golf IV GTI TDI (150 PS) as my regular car. I also own a Golf IV R32.

You & I have some things in common, I too am 42 & I had a 1979 mk1 when I was 17
but, mine was a GTI.
Also I work on machines from you country, Kroll cranes.
