Newbie all the way from South Africa

Hi all - names Puben, all the way from Johanessburg South Africa.
been browsing this site for a while, find it very interesting and informative…

I'm currently riding in a mk 1 golf it's got a 2litre 8 valve motor powered by Suzuki GSXR1000cc bike carbs and get's lifted by a 288 degree cam…it's fun to drive, not extremely powerful but can give a few a go…

I'm starting with a restoration project in a week with another mk1, coz i'm selling my old one (above), and i'm gonna try and build one of the fastest normally aspirated four cylinder golfs on my side of the equator…currently in South Africa that title belongs to the "Jenvey" golf, it's powered by a 2.0 20 valve normally aspirated Audi motor, with 48mm Jenvey Throttle bodies and a Quaife LSD with a fully worked motor and he does the quater mile in 12.9 seconds. unfortunately in South Africa the Quaife and Jenvey products are extremely expensive, so we are limited to making other plans.

I'll post some pics of my ride…

okay the CGP589GP are the newer plates GP stands for Gauteng province, and in the other plates the T stands for Transvaal its the old "apartheid" plates as i call them and yes every province in South Africa has it own unique registration.
