NewB, MK1 on it's way

Hi all,

I am new to the Club and the classic Golf seen.  I am purchasing a MK1 golf today at 6:00pm I hope!!!!! Hopefully will be using this site to use your collective knowledge and experience to enable me to restore and maintain my motor.

I am buying a GTI 1983 Campaign (I hope). I am located in Widnes Cheshire and I do hope to have a smile from ear to ear at 6:01  :lol:

I have bought the car and it?s in my garage! There were smiles and fun all the way home all 79 of them. I haven?t took any pictures yet but will do.

The alarm is bust :(  and the doors are delocked! has anybody got some handles for sale or know where I can get them from? :dontknow:

best to use a picture host first.

most people use www.photobucket.com

then you simply copy the adress in the 'Img' bit of photobucket.

See the side panel for location details and meets times and dates. The next one hasn't been published as this month there are numerous shows that we are all attending. We have a couple of people from your county so don't think that you will be on your own!! Have a drive and meet up with us.

It has the badges front and rear but the service history doesn?t tell me what?s been done. I have a copy of the price list and catalogue from 1992 for GTI Engineering but no evidence of any work. Does anybody know how to find out what?s been done?

I think they closed a while back, but I know they used to keep a database of all their modded Golfs :dontknow:
shame you don't know for sure but fingers crossed you may have some engine tweeks 8) is there any plaques under the bonnet?

Ther are no plaques under the bonet but it looks like some have been removed. there are some mods like fuel presure guage see pic

also it has a redline mounting between the throttle body. thats as far as i have looked up to now! :mrgreen:
