New To This Gol Scene... :)

Evening all on the forum, My name is Matthew, i Live in Cumbria, and yesterday i agreed to by a Mk1 Golf. now becuase of age (19) i couldnt possibly afford the insurance on a Mk1 GTI. My car is a 1983 (A) Mk1 Golf in Mars Red, it is Lowered a little bit on SuperSport coilovers, and it runs on BBS Mahuls (for now). All in all in its quite a tiday little car. My plans are to get 2 rear wheels arches put in it, andget a full bottom half respray. (beneath the black trim that goes half way down the door). it needs a new carb on it becuase it smells of petrol on the start up.

My first main questions will be aimed at everyone and any one that could help me. i would like to know the best suppliers for things like rear arches…a stainless steel petrol pipe from the filler neck to the petrol tank… and the main one is that…does anyone have any idea what the webber conversion is for the 1272cc engine… i believe it to be something along the line of 33icd?? (confused). i have a little idea about carbs, i have been into mini from the age of 15 so i am a su carb geek. however have small idea about webbers… please help if you can. the carb that is on it now is a solex i beleive….

you can get a conversion but i'm not sure on the numbers

have a look on fastroadcars.com they sell the conversions so they should be able to tell you
