87 CL Cabby?

Not sure there is a CL?
I thought the 1.6 at that time was the GL model?

Maybe someone can clarify?

I don't have the logbook, just HPi'd the car and it doesn't say. Maybe its a GL, i'm not sure…

Anyways it has arrived this morning, i've taken a quick picture but want to get her cleaned up i take some proper pictures.

Tonight the webers need setting up properly, so giving her a full service and a cambelt just to be on the safe side.

More picture to follow and ill be asking a millions of questions so peoples help would be greatful.

Cheers

I thought you'd bought a MK2 Tintop LOL, by mistake.

looks okay.
Have the side tension cables gone or has the hood shrunk.
There is a gap above the door glass and the top sides, which should be lower?

Last of the small bumper models, before they changed to the big bumper kit.

look forward to seeing how you get on..

In the meantime get the roof down and enjoy the sun lol.

Hi i've taken some more pic's from the side please tell me thr roof is okay. It does't leak as its been stood outside for a year. Like I said its my first mk1 golf.

I'm going to MOT her tonight also a full service with a cambelt, i've had to order a new log book as the previous keeper lost it so until I receive the logbook I won't be able to tax it. :(

Hi james just followed your group on fb so would be great to meet up, cheers

Please advise on the roof

Kind Regards

Hi,
It shouldn't hump in the middle
A straighter lower line of the roof side edge is more usual.
Could be side tension cable gone or shrinkage.
If its cable, bit of a faf but no biggie.

If you want new roof then some spends to be made.
That's why when anyone goes to buy a cabby ask about the roof.
How old, maintenance etc etc.

New Mohair roof is in the plans, a nice blue one. As long as it doesn't leek.

new one, should be ideal, if the headliner or interliner and top pad need changing then they should be done at the same time as the fixings are under the hood.

you cannot change them afterwards.

cheers
