new to the world of Golf!

hi,new guy here,Have just bought a mk 1 convertible off my father in law here in France.
 I know nothing abot these cars so im here to learn.
I am English but have lived in the south of France for 20 years .the car came from my father in laws boss who boght it new in Germany and used it for short trips when he visited on holiday.
