i had something similar with my tintop, no v5, if you ring DVLA and give em the reg they will be able to tell you if its still registered, if its on their database then its £25 for new v5 and you just have to mot it as normal, if you havent got the reg number then try and give em the vin number.  its worth asking em

hope helps

Hi mate, had a similar thing before and aircooled1968 is right just contact the DVLA. just using the vin number should be ok and if still registered you can apply for the log book.  If not it maybe a Q im afraid or a private reg if you fancy paying for one!!

I may be wrong here but i think you can HPI a car just using its vin number. Not a moody text car check but a proper experian HPI.

Pop into a local maindealer sales department and ask them if they mind doing an HPI on the VIN. They might ask for a few quid if their tight arses. This will either give history saying its no longer registered or pop up a reg number with it?

If all else fails go for a private reg option. They can be picked up pretty cheap and will look better and be more desirable in the future than a Q plate.

I agree with the above but try and get it sorted before
you start work on it .I had same problem with an xr3i
and back then it was £17. for a new log book.
