New to Club and looking for help

Hi all,

I've been given the task of selling my grans mk1 golf. Its a red 1981 1100cc and passed its MOT last friday. The bodywork is sound but has quite a few rust spots. A respray could be in order.

The reason Ive come here for some advice is the guy whos been MOTing it for the last 27 years says it should be considered a collectors item as its only done 22k miles!

I need to get some pics done for an advert but if anyone has a rough price guide or any other help please post up!

Thanks,
Tim

There's a price guide on the home page (link on right), obviously you'll need to frankly assess its condition yourself to determine an estimate. Note, this is just a guide.

This site is one of the best places to advertise/sell, since its looked at by those genuinely interested in buying a Mk1, etc. However it would cost ?15 to join as a paying member to be able to list the car. Mind you, this compares quite well with Auto Trader, Pistonheads, eBay, which are other avenues. Also bear in mind eBay is a bit of a shark pool and plenty of people have had poor experiences, or been plain ripped off, on it.

Other options include Volkszone, Edition 38, Club GTI, and other (maybe local in your area?) VW Forums. A google search might find your local one.

You'd need to ask around a number of bodyshops to see what they'd quote - a lot depends on the condition of the original paintwork (if good, they can prep it and paint over it, otherwise its back to metal) and your area too.
