Salutations, fellow enthusiasts.

I have just become the proud owner of a little VW Golf Clipper, whom I am naming, "Clive".  Regrettably, the Queen was unavailable for the launch of this particular craft, but my wife and I have toasted the purchase with some pleasant bubbly (the bottle of which was not ceremoniously cracked against the prow).

I have a few pictures to upload.  I shall post these shortly.  The files might be a bit big, until such times as I learn to be more technocratic.

For now, I am looking for advice on what sort of cover to get for young Clive as I do not yet have the benefit of a garage.  I am also going to invest in a Haynes manual.  The only suitable one I can find is the manual for the golf and jetta to 1984, though this does not seem to encompass the convertible.  I will check the forum in more detail to see if there is a bespoke manual for the Clipper but if anyone has any comments on the best manual to buy then I shall be grateful.

Incidentally, the pics to follow suggest to me that wee Clive has been de-clippered.  I think the trim is more akin to the GTi model.  I don't mind owning a clipped gelding if that is the case.

Cheers to all.

Wearra.

I thank you.

Nice to think that I haven't bought a total nail.

I checked out your links, chriswizz: good work there.  I was most impressed by the golf interior - oh, and the wee dogs!

Sunny Erskine.

Ah, the West of Scotland, home of the midge and semi-permanent drizzle.  Days like today make me wonder why I wanted a convertible.  Perhaps we'll get a summer next year.  Until then I'm investing in a rainmac for my Clive.

How's sunny Montrose, jonk?

Looks like a really tidy example - welcome.

The Haynes manual you mention is worth the investment and has a fair amount of info relevant to the cabby; searching this forum is (almost) always productive of course  8)

Montrose this morning is sunny! But BALTIC. Hopefully get my tin top back today as it's been in getting the gears sorted - no 4th or 5th gear! If I'm due a visit to the west coast I'll give you a PM. Look after that gem you've got there.
