New MkI Cabrio Owner

Good morning peoples,

I'm the proud owner of a 1981 Cabrio with an exciting 1800 GTI lump in it.  I've always had VW's and am looking to get rid of my MkIII GTI as soon as the list of jobs is complete on the MkI!

I'm a long time reader of your forums and no doubt I'll be harrassing you all with the seemingly endless list of jobs I have in my mind to get the MkI sparkly again so this is a quick hello and hope I can contribute something to your excellent community.

Please excuse the terrible phone camera quality!  This was the day after picking her up.  a few bits to do, first being a new roof, then suspension.

Solent looks fab  8), welcome to the site.

Dont worry about asking what seems like simple questions we all have to start somewhere.
From experience you get great advice.

Welcome to the site mate.

If you have loads of work to do to your Cabby it might be worth buying Membership. It's only £15 and with the discounts you can easily save this and loads more. Well worth checking out.

Just realised I got to over 40 posts and hadn't joined up.  I'm now a paid member, not particularly because I need the discounts but more because I've had some fantastic advice, and access to some good parts, deals and ideas and that shouldn't just be milked for free!  Thank you all!

Welcome,
A fellow newbie here too and you have inspired me to also become a paid member.
My 81 cabby is in need of a lot of tlc so i think the advice and discounts will be worth their weight.

15 squids is a bargain for the amount of money you save by following the guides and doing jobs yourself, also for choosing a certain part over another for example.  I've never paid for an online forum before, and always found ClubGTI a little, what shall I say, snobby towards amateurs like myself!  Sometimes not even getting a response to posts.

Everyone's really friendly on here and more than willing to help.
