new mk1 owner from south carolina

hi all,  i used to own air cooled Karmann Ghias in my younger days.  decided i needed something easy to work on that got good gas mileage so i started shopping again for a vw air cooled.  pretty soon i figured out that even rusted out, barely running models would start at around $2K, so i turned my attention to the water cooled vw and discovered the cabriolet, which is basically the rabbit that they continued to produce up until '93, and that for these cars the parts were not expensive and repairs were not overly complicated.  so i found a local guy selling a '92 wolfsburg cabby for a good price and brought it.  the PO removed all of the EFI stuff and electronic ignition stuff which suits me just fine.  just the other day i installed a mechanical fuel pump so now she is 100% non-electronic.  there is still much work to be done.  i just got finished rebuilding the rear brakes, but still have to finish out the braking system, get the dash and blower fan working, etc., but i am pretty close to having a car for local trips that can go a long way on gas
