Just a hello to all at the club,new member here,i had a triple white gti cab back in 93 which got lost in a divorce,but now have a 84 1600 gl cab & a 87 triple white gti cab so am a happy man ,have a few probs which i need sorting,one speed wipers(the slow speed) & noo heater working tried new switch but no joy,this is on the gl cab btw,conencted a tester to the 3 points on the resister at the top of the blower motor but no joy,fan is turning by hand i assume new blower motor?havent tested wiper motor yet not sure where to?any help would be grateful.many thanks

Hello and welcome. If you can get a secondhand wiper motor as well as another heater motor I'd try that. They tend to fail if they have not been used much :dontknow:

Thanks  for the advice will let you know how i get on,will try to get some pics soon,am in the middle of restoring the gl cab,then onto the gti cab,cheers Paddy

There was a 'hot to' posted a while back here on cleaning/replacing your wiper spindles. Once cleaned and greased up they can be like new again.

It's commonly known that mk1 wipers have two speeds, slow and exteemly slow.

Thanks for all yr messages,i put  a new motor on & all seems well i now have 2 speeds(still both slow mind! ,but an improvement all the same,heater motor next!many thanks paddy

I seem to recall my cabby didn't have the fast(er) speed on the wipers. I took the wheel off, investigated further and found there was a white peg preventing the stalk from switiching further onto the next contact. I removed it (like taking a tooth out) and hey presto faster wipers !
