firstly great site and forums,

I have been scouring them for the last few weeks during my search for a Mk1 cabby. In which time i have completely changed what i want, and my budget has doubled somehow.

Live up in Falkirk near Glasgow (where i spent most of my time)

Dad bought me a mk1 when i was 12 with plans to do up for when i passed my test but like many things of this nature it was abandoned and sold on (probably for the best as body kits and flip paint seemed like the done thing). Bought a white mk2 driver at 17. A set of lowering springs here, a ronal turbo there and i had my dream car (at the time), later sold that for a BMW compact which has now perished so on the look for a mk1 sportline in red.

Very impressive skill you got there - gotta say love Daft Punk and their helmets are so iconic.

Good luck in finding a nice Mk1 Cabby. When you do you should get down to one of the Scottish meets/shows to show it off.

I am the Scottish regional host and I hope u can find a Sportline but it isnt that easy I am afraid, I had to go to London to get mine and I am glad u are willing to travel as you will wait for ever for one to come available up here.

If I can help you out in anyway, just give me a shout.

My Sportline is going to a gearbox refurbishers near you in December.

I hiope u find a car and keep your eye on the Scottish meets thread in the regional section for our monthly meets in 2013.

I flew down to London with a one way ticket, I just got lots of upfront photos and spent ages on the phone with the owner getting all the details.

Then I had the insurance and breakdown cover set up ready for a call and also a return flight details if required.

When I saw the car it was good enough for me so I had already done the deal with the owner regarding price, so I just activated the insurance and breakdown, paid the guy and drove home.

It was out of my comfort zone doing it this way but it was dead easy but the upfront phone calls and pics were the answer so that I wasnt disappointed when I saw it in the metal.

yeah i have been trying to do that with the cars iv seen . its just being able to up and go the second one becomes available.

rich - indeed, i have several pages bookmarked allready. seems to be a few others on the hunt for a sportline. tbh i would be happy with a nice gti cabrio. As long as it felt like the right car. Are you looking to buy another sportline, or just know of a car coming for sale?
