New member and Newish owner of a green rivage LT

Hi People,

Ive just joined!!!!!!! still learning my way around the club site at the moment, I became the proud owner of a green rivage LT a few months ago and now im getting over the honeymoon period of just enjoying the car. Am now getting to grips of all the little bits that need doing on the car, leather seats need refurbing, dash lights got an earth fault and i think i will treat the car to a new roof etc.
Any advise will be welcome especially the dash light earth fault.

Ive owned a few vdubs in the past including mk2 polo coupe (my first car), mk2 golf c, mk2 golf gti,mk1 clipper and a corrado 16 valver, but ive never got over selling the clipper hence the new car my new rivage.

Ive put a couple of pictures of my car to see what you think………..

Welcome to the site, nice to see a green rivage, its looks like a nice example, does it need a new roof? yours looks pritty tidy? if you do put new roof on i would be interested in your old one

Best of luck with your plans for it, and keep updating us with pics :-)

Hello and welcome.. Looks very nice.. Are you looking to get it back to full original spec?.. If so, the petrol cap should be the type with a spring loaded flap on (available on ebay easilly enough) and it is missing the rivage decals from the rear quarters.. Also it should have Karmann badges on the front wings and where it says golf cabriolet on the back, it should be a golf gti badge…. If you need the decals let me know.. Cheers..  :D

Thanks rich,

The roof does look slightly better in the pics than it actually is, although it has been cleaned very well in the past at some point.

There is two small holes forming around the hinge point on the passenger side (both about the size of a pea).
Also annoyingly I put a 2 inch split about 3 inches below the rear window which would be an easy repair from the inside.

Hopfully i will get the roof done in a few months so will let you know if your still interested, will be putting more pictures on soon………….

Thanks David……..

Thanks for the info rich,

The plan is to get it back to original spec.

Didnt realise the fuel cap was wrong but I know the ones your talking about and it will be bought soon, neither knew about the the the golf cabriolet badge either which will also get sorted soon.
I knew about the karman badges being in the wrong place (the cars been resprayed at some time), everytime I look at them it bugs me so they will be coming off and put in the correct position soon.

I am very interested in the decals if you can supply them…………….Cheers David..

Thought it looked a little strange.
looks good, does it need much doing to it? Other than the decals, new hood etc?

Thanks,

Its not to bad condition, a few things need doing……….gives me something to get my teeth into.

Got one of the common earth problems on the dash where when you put the lights on the full beam light comes on and the rev counter started reading lower revs.
Ive took the dash apart and had a root around to no avail, I did notice 2 earth straps swinging in the wind under the bonnet and have sorted them. which i was hoping for a result but no differance……think an auto electricain may be called for that.

Boot lid rotten at the bottom. but bought a green rivage replacement from ebay (what a result) so fitting that soon.

The syncro in second is abit dodgy when cold but ok at the moment.

Im in the process of feeding the leather (a couple of hours at a time) think i will get it completely retrimmed one day.

The wheels are in good nic but one has drip marks under lacker? so will have to be refurbed at some point.

Think thats about it, when ive got all that done I will be happy with the standard of the car……………..

any help of the above will be welcome………

No need to feed the leather mate.

It would be coated when new so a feeder doesnt really do much.

Just use a cleaner and conditiner.
