New Gti Cabriolet owner
Just bought a MK1 GTI Cabriolet that a friend had standing for 2 years in a garage. The little thing has only done about 5000 miles in the last 6 years.
In the last 2 years the handbrake was on ALL the time, the engine wasn't started at all and the mold inside, well i don't need to add any more. Needless to say i like a challenge and as some of the wiring looks like a mouse has had a feed i think i will be busy.
I have been browsing the forums and the info is really helpfull thanks to all!
Just one question: i will need roof cables at some point, and while i can sort most mechanical parts i wouldn't know where to start with trying to obtain some, any ideas?
P.S. Unlike the fine examples on this site i won't be posting any pics, its just toooo rough

There are two different lengths of roof cable, depending on whether there's a spring connecting the cable to the roof frame or not.
I got both sets from VW in the end, cos they weren't expensive, and my nearest VW garage is a bit out of the way from where I work.
You should be able to just go into a VW dealer (that has a spares office) and order them.
