New folk from the south coast

Hello all, thought I'd say hello and show a quick photo of my golf. I bought it off a mate who had it advertised on here somewhere. A couple of weekends in the garage and it got through it's MOT like a champ. There's some small bits of work to be done on it and some possible cosmetic changes (I don't really like the wheels as much as I did a month ago, nor the three piece spoiler on the back of the roof). It needs a wash and polish as well, not to mention a general tuning, but I'm dead chuffed with her.

Cheers!

Thanks for the replies guys.

I'm halfway between Portsmouth and Southampton, although a little closer to Pompey (that sign in the background talks of Fareham Borough Council). The rear spoiler might be growing on me; I gave all the trim a going over with some Back to Black and it improved things greatly, even that thing stuck to the back of my car. I'll be sure to mention on here if I get sick of it though :D

The old Chichester Riviera eh? ;)

I'll let you know in a year or so when I'm trying to fit something with a little more poke under the bonnet and am in need of some help

Cool, went through bognor on monday on the scenic route to Chichester ( folks live near littlehampton ). Still like that area as used to live in Rustington before moving to IoM.

Thought it was fareham on the sign but at my age i have learnt not to believe my eyes! lol

I can't decide, sometimes I like pootling about in my low power mk1, but at t'other times I wish it had a bit more in it…

I think I might stick with going slow for now; there's a strange kudos in it, which is like going quickly, but more laughable. It's almost the antithesis of modern car culture, which is good for me as my push bike cost 5 (five) times what I spent on my car (no joke) and probably costs more to maintain. Pootling about also seems to have more of that 1981 air to it, which is sort of the style I was buying into in the first place.

Let me know if there's any south-coast meets happening, I'll be keen to come along and have a look at what everyone else down here is doing with their cars.
