New car!

Hi guys,
Just joined this website due to receiving the best birthday present off my girlfriend last week. As well as my current MK4 GT-TDi 130 I was given a MK1 GTi Cabrio 1985 for my birthday. I've been looking for one for ages and have finally got the best vw ever made (In my opinion). So the car works and is in reasonable nick, it just needs refurbing throughout. I have minimal knowlege on how the engine etc works but have several manuals and am keen to learn. Can you guys suggest where would be the best place to start on the restoration.

Regards,

Jordster

See I think it's a test, she might be seeing how much time I give to the car and how much time I give to her. All I know though is I'm gonna have to wing a big present her way for christmas!

So any ideas where to make a start on the car as I'm ready to start the restoration program!

Thanks,

Jordster

As in a Naan with a peanut butter and jam filling?

You should start with finding out the extent of any rust, dents, etc on the body as you may have to take parts off anyway which you can repair at the same time.

OK, breed!!

Dont worry if its a test, as long as the Golf is registered in your name you are safe!

The funny thing was, she asked if I would insure her on the car once it's restored - A girl insured on a group 15 classic - I think NOT!

P.s. car is registered in my name - so I'm safe!
