My Swiss 1.8GL (first ever VW purchased)
Situation: I've just bought a very pretty silver 1.8GL from a friend and haven't got the first clue about maintenance on this model or modifications. Looking to restore the car to perfection in time but full working condition by summer 2009 so I can take her on a few road trips through the alsp here in Switzerland.
Wanted: Xenon lights upgrade (I thought would be good) and also changing the brakes to either a new original pair or a market upgrade if available?
Needed: Dashboard lights are all recieving a cross voltage from eachother, the dashboard backlight isn't working and the overheat light comes on even though the temperature is only on 1/4 of heat indication range and can sometimes flash when approaching 50% heat (rare).
Also, idleing a little lumpy.. any suggestions on how to smoothen out idle? Carb clean?
Sorry to ask so many Q's on my first entry, Just need some help!
Thanks all,
Swinglish

It's a Silver Cabriolet. I think I have one pic, I'll have a look and see if I can put it on the site somehow…
Will check out funkstar for advice… excellent.
Thanks again,

to keep file sizes down we dont host our own pictures and suggest using a service such as photobucket
