My New Mk1 GTI
After 5 years running a 1981 Lancia Beta Coupe (in almost as new condition), I was feeling a little guilty doing 13,000 miles a year, so decided to get a new ish car with power steering, cheap to run, then my boss parked a Y reg Mk1 GTI in our car park, old, no power steering, I checked it over and and I fell in love agian, put it in for a MOT, passed (-:. I'm now the very proud owner of a almost standard MK1 except 4 into 1 m'fold and and stainless system.
I have fitted Koni's to the front, prob will do the rears also
I love the car, complete opposite drive style from the Lancia , my two Fav cars parked on my drive, and only cost me an extra ?23 a year on Classic car insurance(AON) bargin

Running the Lancia as a sunday car now, to keep it mint and use the golf everyday instead?

my plan is to park one of the cars at work under cover, and use both, perhaps use the Golf more during the winter months,
The golf will in no way play second fiddle, I have few jobs to do:
Full service incl
Cam belt kit
Front discs
Refurbish wheels (still have original wheels/tyres)
Small surface rust on o/s rear below window
And very small surface rust on tailgate below glass
Koni?s to be fitted to rear
Find new parcel shell (without holes if any can help)
I'm sure I will find more jobs, but unlike the Lancia I hopfully can still get the parts,
Thanks agian
Tony.
