My new Mk1 GTi

Hi guys,

Sorry its taken so long to get the pictures up here but I've been very busy! I'm getting an alarm & immobiliser fitted tomorrow morning, the insurance company insisted, otherwise its completely standard. I have lots of ideas for wheels but I want to stick to 15's and would like to lower it a little, 40mm tops. Other than that I have no intentions other than to polish it lots, its got really dirty already where I 've been driving around in the rain and snow. I like the idea of having it completely standard but I am advised that a GMAX lowering kit from big boys toys really improves handling as well as looks.

Anyway, here it is as I bought it:

I really love it, such a classic, the quintessential hot hatch my flat mate calls it but its so much more than that. My parents had one each when I was growing up, my sister and her boyfriend have them, they are awesome - the sights and sounds bring loads of memories!

Let me know what you think!

Love it mate - hope to see it in the flesh so to speak during the show season this year  8)

Are those crystal clear headlights on it - look like it but from the photo angle cant really tell ??

they look to me like really clean (dishwasher?) or new hella lights (originals) you say keep it standard, but with the wheels and suspension, you will want the back lights, and then the front lights, indicators, all these little bits make it look a little better i think! good luck mate

i live to dub....

Not sure about the headlights to be honest  :?  I have a whole folder of receipts though so whatever they are there will be a receipt for it in there somewhere….I will see if I can find out.

Just had a cat1 alarm+immobiliser fitted today. Really good install, very impressed.

I your looking for an alarm or immobiliser I would highly recommend Inca who are based in Chesunt, Hertfordshire. The guys name is Paul and he is working as a mobile service now so he'll come out to your house. Nice guy, good at his job.

I've been driving it a lot today, loving it. Nice and sunny, a bit too much traffic but its been good fun. Desperately need to clean it now though…

Nice mk1 mate, standard always has an appeal, if you were gonna lower it? do it once and do it properly would be my advice, stick some koni or spax or fk shocks or springs on there, heard varying reports about the Gmax stuff, you get what you pay for i suppose? oh just a thought i personally would avoid BBT they never get the parts in and muck you around for ages! go on ebay, loads of reliable uk companys sell on there

Hi. What a nice example of a GTi, clean and simple…I for one prefer them to look modest and original like yours. Enjoy!
