mk1 gti campaign living australia

  Hi folks .
  Thought i would join the crew and show my new ride  ….have  just bought into a mk1 gti and going back to the history of the car , it seems it was imported from the uk in 2012 and delivered to melbourne the same year.

As i have all the documents and mots from two previous owners i would like to find them and know more about the rebuild and history and life of the engine ect !!! The campaign is registered on the campaign register as i have a print out of all the cars and mine underlined … The owner owner at the time was matt ! 2007 !!

The car was bought from cheshire

I will post some pics and maybe someone may have seen the car many years ago on this forum …








 

Looks very nice, bet thats rare where you are!  Are you going to keep the chrome side trims, or put the original back ones back on with the silver pinstripe underneath?  Do you have the Pirelli centre caps as well?  With the condition its in and the weather in australia this should last a long long while.

Do you have the original UK registration off the MOT certificates?

Yes have the rego number which is a491epb …
Im sure there is one more in australia ! so that makes 2 haha .. Also have the original centre caps stored away ,. Im sure someone here is missing the car ! There was still a club sticker on the car window from this forum .

That looks really tidy!! Check the register on here to see if the previous owner is listed, you may be able to search for some of the history then.

Had a quick search but nothing came up … i see that on the forum you have the  campaign database ? would that show the owner who added the golf ?

I checked out the you gave me and it would be the print out i have here with the rego number and the miles the car has covered .
Well until 2007 and the 24/05/15 the gti has only clocked up 600 miles ….
I might do a search online with the owners name and send out an email …

Well the old register showed that the car had covered 169,000 miles. The date of entry is not available as it was part of the mass import in January 2008.

The owner on the register only posted in 2004, during the transition to the current site his username was changed to matt_old (it's a long story that I really don't want to get into).

So it is a long shot, but matt_old are you still out there ?

I still have the golf   , unfortunatly its too wet to drive in perth this weekend     had a drive through the week and was guilty as the rains have started to settle in .

Yeah, I noticed the weather pattern over Western Australia.
 We're expecting some of that in Victoria over the next week starting Monday afternoon.

I'll take some photos of the intrusion bars and child restraint point locations, as my car's been through the full Vicroads re- engineering specifications.

I'll post some interior shots as well  

 pics of the rear restraint points will be interesting to see ?  If your ever going to order parts from vw heritage  let me know as we could combine as its free shipping for orders over $250

Hi it's been a while since I've been on here !! 
I sold out last year due to funding my visa application for my fiancé…. 
You know how I must feel eh !!! Anyway the chanc s of getting another is minimal haha.

I got all the adr requirements done with ease and not much coin to be honest ! The paper report was the most expensive part .! 
Passed inspection straight away , the inspector was from the uk and I thought he may go at the toll very hard , but he was very enthusiastic and took pics for his mate back in London !! 

I got full professional photos done before selling up …

Should've kept that one Shane!! Is the car still in WA? Heard it got sold on again… back over east!

I have not heard anything or seen that campaign for sale , unless it was done under the table within car collection groups as he was an avid collector 😣
Anyways I told him to sell it back to me on first instance ….will see
