MK1 Golf Newbie, With an Import :)

With having a caddy pickup back in 2009, I couldnt help but start to look for a Mk1 Golf :P

I loved my caddy, and it stuck to the floor like stuff to a blanket once I'd slammed it.. Unfortunately the rust and my annoyingly particular particularnesssss stopped me crusing the winter roads in the rotbox, I wanted a minter! So sold it on..

Yesterday, I found (The first I'd seen) a Mk1 1996 South African Import Citi Golf! It was immaculate.. Unmolested, Original everything, 3 owners, 67,000 genuine miles, Brilliant service history.. So i headed to Portsmouth last night like a kid with a new toy, offered him £850 and snapped it up ;) (Tax and MOT'd, with a 1/4 tank of fuel!)

It's a beauty, i'll post pictures when I can.. I've already bought a coilover kit to tastefully SLAM it on the RA's its running on.

Had to have it.. Regardless of it looking a bit more retro (5-door), it will look awesome on the floor.. And I've got some sexy Image 13" splits to go on soon.. Haha, I'm a true classic dub fan! Already scoped out my plans for it after one day of ownership! :D Car's will be the death of my wallet forever  :banghead:

About me.. Umm, I'm just a 20 year old from Bristol. Right-into my 70s and 80s motors, as well as everything else a little bespoke :P
I'm an apprentice aerospace manufacturing engineer, have been for the last 4 years -

I'm pretty easy going I'd say.. Not into the whole owners club pettiness and such, just here for advice, help, inspiration and a laugh!

Peace,

Steve O

Whoa dude. You must be really happy with your Citi mk1. I have never seen one (In real life), they seem pretty decenty cars with lovely figures. Miles and year of production of your pet is great. Have fun with your rabbit.

Sweeet!
LHD pleeeeease!.. That'd be the ultimate touch around my ends of England ;)

Yeah i'm dead chuffed with it, but at the same time want to pour water in the intake. Insurance is a nightmare, with all these foreigners reading off of a script, anything you say off of their cue confuses the crap outta them.. Declined quote!  :banghead:

I think im gonna have to plead ignorance to it being imported.. Its been in the UK for 12 years, its got a numberplate registration that insurers recognise as a mk3..

I give up!

20v Turbo conversion, ill insure it as a kit car LOL
