mk1 golf help

hi, im new on this forum and would like to know a couple things about the mk1.
I'm very interested in getting one in the future, but as im only 18 i need to know a few things.
firstly, is it possible to get a mk1 with a 1.2l engine or less?
secondly, how much would it be roughly for insurance for someone of my age?

any replies would be great,
thanks in advance.

Can get 1.1 mate and insurance really varies seen some good quotes and some insane ones. I'm only 22 and got a 1.8 myself.

Think a 1.1 anyway mate.

Hi there and welcome if you become a paid member you also can get a slight discount with some insurance companys as you are a member of a club. I have always found adrian flux good even when i was young  :redfaced:

cheers mate, may have to look into that. I'll also look at becoming a paid member if I do end up getting a mk1 in the future, which I hope will happen!
anyone know how much I could pick up a 1.1 for?

Prices are all over the place to be fair best keeping your eye on the Ebay, piston heads and of course HERE, start looking at prices now and you'll see what i mean.  Think 1.1's are a bit harder to come accross usually see more gti's or 1.8 carbed cabbys about for sale but there is still a few right now for sale.

hi there buddy, im 19 and looking for a golf too. I got some quotes and realised i have no chance of getting insured on anything more than a 1.3 (quoted £1300 a year as my dad the main policy holder and me a named driver, on a 1.6 it was double that) so if i were you look for 1.1s and 1.3 and you should be ok, as for the insurers on this website its worth getting a quote but i found they dont really insure people less than 21. Adrian flux is worth a ring though. Good luck mate!

yeah i've seen that prices can be a bit crazy lol, and i've also seen that 1.1s are harder to find, i've only seen a couple on here. But because i'm only 18, i'd never be able to afford the insurance on a 1.8 or gti :(

cheers for that mate. £1300 is a good quote if your 19 though! yeah i'm going to be looking mostly for a 1.1l if I can find one at a decent price.

im 20 and not currently driving my golf gti until it is fully fixed but i have found tesco car insurance were reasonable enough as they quoted me £1000 fully comp, it all depends on where you live what kind of job if you use it in peak times and so on.

Happy huntings mate :)
